Adaptability
A proper analytical approach can be applied effectively anywhere, regardless of the industry. For example, though Dunham had extensive experience in telecommunications, he recalls his new venture into the financial services sector. In less than 2 weeks at a major international investment bank, he identified a loophole in his client’s wire process that exposed them to millions of dollars in loss from internal fraud. This was a process that had been in place for years. Upper management and internal audit were both very grateful to have learned about this so they could correct the matter.
Another example is an impromptu engagement in Europe for a global manufacturing company. Dunham’s business acumen and project experience showed that not having manufacturing experience was not an issue. In fact, having exceptional business strengths can be of greater importance than just industry experience. And a fresh perspective can foster original and creative problem solving.
